TIGER SPOTLIGHT ANNA CRISP

PHS Senior Anna Crisp is dedicated to her Pryor High School Women’s Basketball Team, and she has a passion for the sport. Her experiences as an athlete have not only shaped her on the court but also influenced her academic and career goals.

Crisp credits her dad for teaching her the most about basketball and inspiring her at an early age to love the game. “I have been playing since I was five years old,” Crisp said.  She believes being part of a team offers experiences that go beyond the court.  “There is no “I” in “team”, and you always have people to fall back on when something’s going wrong.” Teams become like family says Crisp.

As an athlete, Crisp has experienced the highlights of dropping 20 points in a game and making it to the final four-state soccer game. She knows the challenges athletes can face as well like “being afraid to fail/mess up and being stressed out between school work and practices,” said Crisp.

When it comes to schoolwork, math is Crisp’s choice. “My favorite school subject is math because I just get the concept of it,” she said. Coach Lo, otherwise known as Lori Martin, is one of her role models. “She is a great teacher and coach, and she helped me find my love for math,” said Crisp.

Crisp intends to pursue an education degree and become a coach. Crisp's involvement in athletics, the National Honor Society, PHS Leadership, and being a Riot Squad Leader will help prepare her for a career in education.

What does Crisp like to do when not at school or playing a sport? "Putting together puzzles with my grandma," Crisp said, is something she enjoys.

Whether in a classroom, on a court, or with family, Crisp’s advice is “just to give 110 percent effort all the time.”
