The lobby of the Burdick Center was filled with warm greetings, shared memories, and the excitement of reconnecting as former athletes, coaches, friends, and families gathered Friday, October 9, for the 2026 Pryor Public Schools Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
For some, it was an opportunity to reconnect with teammates and friends they had not seen in years. For others, it was a chance to celebrate the accomplishments of family members and former Tigers whose athletic achievements have become part of Pryor's proud history.
The ceremony honored eight individuals and two state championship teams, welcoming them into the Athletics Hall of Fame alongside 20 previous inductees.
The Class of 2026 included the 1984 Pryor Girls Track Team, the 2019 Pryor Tigers Baseball Team, Tylor Arnold, Donnie Bostwick, Heather Martin Burroughs, Chad Kimsey, Callie Parsons, Olivia Rains, Ron Stacy, and Bailey Vanzant.
More Than an Induction Ceremony
While recognizing outstanding athletic achievements is at the heart of the Hall of Fame, the annual event serves an equally meaningful purpose: bringing generations of Tigers together.
The luncheon creates an opportunity for former teammates, coaches, classmates, and families to reconnect, revisit cherished memories, and celebrate the relationships built through Pryor athletics. Those connections extend well beyond the playing field, strengthening the bonds of a community united by its school pride.
Following a time of visiting and a meal prepared by MidAmerica Grill, Athletic Director Gerald Osborne and Superintendent Dr. Lisa Muller welcomed the guests. Master of Ceremonies David Shreffler then introduced the honorees, highlighting their athletic achievements and contributions to Pryor's legacy of excellence.
As the inductees reflected on their experiences, a common theme emerged: individual achievement is rarely accomplished alone.
Honorees expressed gratitude for the recognition, recalled pivotal moments in their athletic careers, and acknowledged the coaches, teachers, teammates, and family members who helped shape their lives.
Their stories were reminders that behind every championship, record, and personal accomplishment is a network of people offering encouragement, guidance, and support.
Teamwork, a defining element of athletic success, was also a thread connecting the honorees' reflections. Whether competing for a state championship or pursuing individual goals, the relationships formed among athletes, coaches, families, and fans helped create opportunities for each Tiger to reach their full potential.
Honoring the Team Behind the Celebration
Just as athletic success depends on teamwork, creating a memorable Hall of Fame celebration requires the dedication of many people working behind the scenes.
Long before guests arrived at the Burdick Center, the Hall of Fame Committee undertook the challenging responsibility of reviewing nominations and selecting the individuals and teams whose accomplishments would be recognized. Their thoughtful consideration helps preserve the history of Pryor athletics while ensuring that future generations can celebrate the achievements of those who came before them.
Once the selections were made, another team went to work preparing for the induction ceremony.
Under the watchful eye of PPS Lead Administrative Assistant Marsha Kendrick, the Burdick Center was transformed into a welcoming setting that reflected the significance of the occasion. From coordinating the details of a seated luncheon for approximately 155 guests to creating an atmosphere befitting the honorees, Kendrick helped set the stage for a memorable celebration.
Working alongside fellow staff member Camee Morris and members of the district's Communications and Maintenance departments, Kendrick coordinated the many details necessary to bring the event together. Beautiful floral arrangements by local business The Nest added an elegant touch to the celebration, helping create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the honorees and their guests.
Pryor High School students also played an important role in welcoming guests and making the occasion memorable. FCCLA members served as ushers during the ceremony, while student leaders provided guided tours of Pryor High School, offering returning alumni and guests an opportunity to explore the campus and reconnect with their school.
Much like the teamwork celebrated throughout the luncheon, these behind-the-scenes contributions demonstrated the dedication, service, and community spirit that make special district traditions possible.
Pryor Public Schools extends its appreciation to the Hall of Fame Committee, event organizers, district staff, families, and community members who helped make the celebration possible.
Most importantly, congratulations to the Class of 2026. Your achievements, dedication, and contributions to Pryor athletics are now part of a legacy that will continue to inspire future generations of Tigers.
