Homecoming is a time to celebrate Tiger Pride, and this year, Pryor Public Schools is bringing that spirit together across the District, thanks to the collaboration of student leaders in grades 3 through 12.
Last week, elementary and middle school student leaders boarded a bus bound for Pryor High School, where they gathered in the high school library to meet with their high school counterparts. Their mission? To put a long-standing vision of Assistant Superintendent Dr. Tiffany Ballard into action: unite Tigers across grade levels and campuses in a districtwide celebration of Homecoming.
The goal was to develop a unified Homecoming Spirit Week plan that would encourage participation from students at every school, bringing the entire Tiger community together through shared traditions and school spirit.
Student Leadership in Action
Working alongside Dr. Ballard and their teachers, student representatives from across the District tackled the challenge of selecting daily dress-up themes that would work for everyone, from elementary students to high school seniors.
It was no easy task! With different activities and events taking place across the District during Homecoming Week, students quickly recognized that their plans needed to accommodate more than just their own campuses.
For example, Roosevelt Elementary's annual Jog-a-thon falls during Homecoming Week. Student leaders worked together to select a dress-up theme that would allow Roosevelt Tigers to participate in the districtwide celebration while still being dressed and ready to run.
Through brainstorming, discussion, and collaboration, students developed a list of potential themes, narrowed their choices, and cast their votes. With guidance from Dr. Ballard and their teachers, they also worked through scheduling considerations to create a Spirit Week plan that would bring the District together.
The experience gave students an opportunity to practice leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork while considering the needs of their fellow Tigers across grade levels and school sites.
The result? Five days of Homecoming fun, with themes selected by students, for students, designed to bring Tigers of all ages together in a districtwide celebration of school spirit!

Monday, September 21 – Surf's Up!
Wear your favorite beach attire! All outfits must be school-appropriate.
Tuesday, September 22 – Be a Star!
Dress as your favorite athlete, actor, or singer!
Wednesday, September 23 – Color War!
Show your class pride by wearing your assigned class color. Colors will be announced at each school.
Thursday, September 24 – Back to the Future!
Travel through time by dressing in styles from past or future decades!
Friday, September 25 – It's a Great Day to Be a Tiger!
Show your Tiger Pride by wearing blue and gold!
Tiger Families, Join the Homecoming Celebration!
The students' vision of a unified Homecoming celebration extends beyond our classrooms and campuses. We invite our Tiger Families and the entire Pryor community to join us in spreading that Tiger Spirit!

Thursday, September 24 – Homecoming Parade
Come out for the Pryor Homecoming Parade at 6:30 p.m. as our students, school organizations, athletic teams, and community members come together to celebrate Tiger Pride!
Friday, September 25 – Friday Night Lights and Homecoming Coronation
Join us for a special Friday Night Lights celebration featuring the Homecoming Coronation before the Pryor Tigers take on Tulsa Edison. Wear your blue and gold, fill the stands, and help us cheer on our Tigers!
From our youngest Tigers to our graduating seniors, and from our classrooms to our community, this year's Homecoming is an opportunity to celebrate the traditions and connections that make Pryor Public Schools one Tiger family.
What began as Dr. Ballard's vision for a districtwide celebration became a student-led effort to bring our schools and community together.
