Eighth grade students in Mrs. Henry’s classes recently deepened their understanding of history through a Holocaust Museum Walk exhibit designed to share their learning with classmates.

As part of the project, students researched historical accounts of the Holocaust genocide, studying the time period, geography, and crimes against humanity that shaped one of the darkest chapters in world history. Students then used their research to create exhibit displays that helped tell the stories, events, and lasting impact of the Holocaust.

The Museum Walk provided students with an opportunity to learn from one another while building important background knowledge before traveling to Washington, D.C. During the trip, students will visit the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, where they will be able to connect their classroom learning to the powerful exhibits and historical accounts preserved there.

By preparing before the visit, students are better equipped to approach the museum experience with understanding, reflection, and respect. The project encouraged students to think critically about history, human rights, and the importance of remembering the past.
