It’s official, Pryor High School aviation instructor Tami Rowland has been named Pryor Public Schools District 2026 Teacher of the Year.
Rowland received the surprise announcement during a Tiger Time Showcase Assembly, spotlighting the high school choir and the PHS drone program. The surprise moment came when Superintendent Dr. Lisa Muller stepped onto the court to share the exciting news with students and staff.
Known for her ability to multitask while encouraging students to develop in-demand skills, Rowland splits her instructional day between teaching aviation technology and working with students in the Success Center. An integral part of the Pryor High School drone program, Rowland helps students develop technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and real-world skills through hands-on learning.
At PHS, Rowland has been instrumental in helping build an aviation program that gives students access to unique, STEM learning opportunities. She holds a Remote Pilot Certificate Part 107 License and is committed to providing students with engaging, relevant instruction that connects classroom learning to future careers.
Most recently, Rowland attended a drone instructor training to prepare for guiding Pryor students through an upcoming search and rescue competition at Camp Gruber on April 15. Her willingness to continue learning reflects the same forward-thinking spirit she works to inspire in her students each day.
She also sponsors the Pryor High School Student Council. Her firm, fair, and friendly leadership style has made a lasting impression on students and colleagues alike.
In addition to her work with students, Rowland is known for her gracious spirit and her abilit ot see the best in everyone. Her kindness, patience, and encouragement foster a positive culture throughout the school.
Rowland demonstrates a strong commitment to preparing Pryor students for success. Her efforts have helped share a program that equips Tigers with valuable skills and encourages them to take flight toward their futures.
Congratulations, Mrs. Rowland, on this well-deserved honor.
