From reading shop drawings to applying the final finish, students in Mr. Lindsey’s middle school class are actively engaged in woodworking projects that connect classroom learning to real-world skills.
Middle school students begin by learning the theory behind woodworking in the classroom. They then move into the shop environment, where they apply those concepts while learning proper safety procedures and practical techniques.
Through woodworking lessons and projects, students develop valuable skills such as safely using tools, reading measurements accurately, and completing goals. They also experience the pride and accomplishment that comes from taking a project from raw materials to a finished product with their own hands.
That tradition of craftsmanship and hands-on learning is part of what Pryor Public Schools values in providing students with a well-rounded education. A state-of-the-art woodworking shop is also included in the plans for the new middle school as part of the proposed bond project, helping ensure future students continue to have access to meaningful, skill-based learning opportunities.
