Special announcements took center stage at Jefferson Elementary’s Friday assembly as staff and students gathered in the gym to celebrate two of the school’s very best.

With district administrators lined up along the gym wall, Principal Mr. Beattie stepped up to the microphone to recognize two Jefferson team members whose work makes a daily difference for students. Jefferson staff selected kindergarten teacher Mrs. Jessica Shrum as the 2026 Jefferson Teacher of the Year, and Mrs. Jeri Daily was named the 2026 Jefferson Support Staff Member of the Year.

Nominations for Shrum referenced her dedication to exceptional teaching and the positive culture she creates in the classroom. Coworkers shared that she sets high expectations and is intentional about identifying learners who may be struggling. They noted that her communication with parents and staff is superb—leading to strong outcomes for every student she serves.

Teachers also praised the way Shrum makes learning in kindergarten both fun and meaningful, calling her a strong advocate for her students. One nomination explained that Shrum’s students clearly understand classroom expectations and work daily to exceed them because she believes they can.

As Jefferson’s Teacher of the Year, Shrum will now advance to represent Jefferson Elementary in the Pryor Public Schools District Teacher of the Year selection process.

dailyStaff also recognized the steady, behind-the-scenes impact of Daily, whose support is felt across the building. Colleagues described her as someone with unmatched experience and a gift for connecting with students of all ages, from Pre-K through 5th grade.

As one coworker put it, “Her experience is unmatched…she’s wonderful with all ages…She makes learning so much fun for all.” Many added that they’ve seen Daily do countless things to support both teachers and students, wherever the need arises.

Jefferson Elementary is proud to celebrate Mrs. Shrum and Mrs. Daily for the leadership, care, and excellence they bring to the Jefferson community every day.
