two showgirls

The Pryor High School Library transformed into a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and Taylor Swift during The Life of a Showgirl album release week. Teachers and students from multiple classes joined forces to turn the event into an interdisciplinary showcase of music, poetry, art, and fashion.

Friday’s celebration featured a live acoustic performance by Ms. Burgardt, who played Taylor Swift’s Fearless — a crowd favorite.

Literary Art: Blackout Poetry

In Mrs. Beasley’s English I and Reading/Writing Workshop classes, students created blackout poetry using lyrics from Taylor Swift’s songs. Many took the extra creative step of designing their pages into visual art pieces, turning favorite verses into stunning, one-of-a-kind poetry collages.

Fashion Design: “Showgirl Stage Costume” Project

Mrs. Rash’s Fashion II students took inspiration from Taylor Swift’s album eras to design original “Showgirl Stage Costumes.” Each student was assigned one of Taylor’s albums and challenged to design a costume that captured its color palette, textures, and aesthetic. Their mounted presentation boards displayed everything from fashion sketches and rhinestone layouts to marketing ideas for Swift’s next album era — connecting fashion design with entertainment marketing.

Branding and Marketing: Fashion I Research Project

Fashion I students explored the business side of pop culture through research and design. Working in groups, they selected one of Taylor’s eras and completed The Big Ten, a detailed analysis of how each album became a worldwide brand. Their vision boards showcased release timelines, styling, stage design, and merchandise, along with creative ideas for enhancing album promotion.

Digital Design: Showgirl-Inspired Art

Adding to the dazzling atmosphere, Mrs. Roberson’s Graphic Design students created vibrant digital artwork to decorate the library walls. Their colorful feather masks and themed graphics captured the spirit of a true showgirl performance, transforming the space into a lively celebration of art and music.

A Cross-Curricular Celebration

From English to Fashion Design to Digital Media, the event was a perfect blend of music, marketing, and creativity. The finished projects are now displayed in the PHS Library, showing how Taylor Swift’s artistry inspires students to connect literature, business, and design in meaningful and imaginative ways.
