littles with paper plate dots

Our littlest Tigers joined in the celebration of International Dot Day last week by creating their very own artistic dots.

The celebration capped off a fun-filled reading of The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds, introduced to schools by educator Terry Shay. Every kindergarten student received their own copy of the book, making the experience even more special.

The story tells of a caring teacher who encourages a student to “make her mark.” What begins as a small dot on a piece of paper blossoms into a vibrant work of art—symbolizing a journey of creativity, self-discovery, and confidence. The book also provided students with an opportunity to develop a growth mindset, reminding them that even the smallest efforts can grow into something meaningful.

Dot Day was a school-wide event, with students and staff across the building joining in on the celebration. Inspired by the story, our Tigers picked up their own blank canvases and let their imaginations flow. Each student discovered a spark of creativity and transformed a simple dot into a unique personal masterpiece.

By making their own marks, our Tigers celebrated the power of creativity, the importance of persistence, and the joy of sharing their art with others.
