Stanley at board

Bond construction and maintenance projects were key topics at the August 4 regular school board meeting. The board received positive updates from Jim Trout, Bond & Special Projects Director and David Stanley, Director of Facilities Maintenance, regarding the progress at Tiger Stadium and the new maintenance building.

At Tiger Stadium, crews are currently installing the scoreboard and wrapping up final details for the season opener—despite the challenges of heavy rainfall throughout the summer build. Trout stated that while a few small items remain, the project is on track for the August 29 home game, when the Pryor Tigers take on Sallisaw under the lights on their new home turf.

Trout reported on construction progress across the district, noting, “Construction progress exceeded my expectations this summer,” with significant work completed at the middle school. He shared that the building is in good shape and ready to welcome students on opening day.

Stanley shared how the maintenance department, now fully moved into the new facility, is making use of the additional space. Stanley said that having maintenance operations consolidated under one roof has improved communication, efficiency, and overall support for school operations.

Additionally, the new maintenance building provides much-needed storage for school sites. Principals have already begun the process of moving items into the new storage areas, a shift that will help streamline campus operations heading into the new year.
