Chef Chris at PHS

Pryor High School is gearing up for a delicious celebration as Chef Chris Murray arrives to host a special Whole Hog Roast event on October 24, 2024. Organized by Pryor's cafeteria service partner, Taher, this event provides a unique opportunity for students and the school family to come together and enjoy an exceptional meal.

"School lunch is not what it used to be," said Jessica Davis, Taher Food Service Director at Pryor Schools. Davis emphasized how school lunches have changed, moving away from the traditional "heat and serve" approach to meals that are freshly prepared from scratch using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. For this event, Dorsey Processing of Pryor is providing the main entrée.

The menu promises a mouthwatering feast, featuring Whole Roasted Hog, Smokey Charro Beans, Mac & Cheese, Cornbread, and Dessert. Lunch will be served on October 24, from 10:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. in front of the Burdick Center, located at 1100 SE 9th Street, Pryor.

As a gesture of appreciation, Pryor First Responders will be honored as special guests and will receive complimentary meals.

Chef Chris Murray, known for his love of BBQ, looks forward to serving up his favorite dishes for Pryor High. Taher expects to serve around 1,000 plates during the event.

Adding an educational aspect to the celebration, Pryor High School’s culinary and leadership students will assist with the preparation and service, providing them with valuable hands-on experience in event management and food service.
